Oblique Strategies

Two things:  1)  There’s a line that didn’t survive the scan so well which is “The I Ching is for hippies and Nazi sympathizers”, so if you’re having trouble reading, that’s what it says.  2)  Lacking an Oblique Strategies deck I made my random draws online.  If you wish to pursue the “wonderful” world of OS you can do so at your leisure.

Video Game Movies I had to Endure in the 90’s

It’s true, Jaleel White (Steve Urkel on TV’s Family Matters) was the über-annoying voice of Sonic the Hedgehog on Saturday morning’s.

Fun and Games

Apparently the phrase, “It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye” comes from ancient Rome.  I did not know that.

BP Oil Spill: Solutions from Hollywood Directors

Some time has passed since Cameron was asked about the spill so this cartoon is perhaps a bit dated, but I do love the idea of turning to Hollywood for solutions to things, much like when movie stars stand up for causes and elections.  I’m also not sure why Kevin Smith has what looks like dog bones for hands, but to be fair I’ve never met the guy.  You could argue that there are many images of him in film and television where he clearly has proper hands but I can remember back to a time in my childhood where I had long arguments with my father about whether or not Liutenant Dan was played by a legless actor (he thought Gary Sinise had no legs).  Anyways, moral of the story is that you just never can tell.

I love Jaws, I don’t really know what more there is to explain about this one.

Expressions that Confuse Me: Part I

Ah my, yes.  The scans do look better on the white background.  You get two comics today as I would like to have the entire backlog up before my new one goes up on Thursday.  Then it will be back to once a week.  How ever will you all survive?

Everyone Draw Mohammed Day

Here it is, folks!  The one that started everything.  If you’re not familiar with event, you can read more about it here.  As a nonbeliever I generally tend to respect freedom of religion except where it encroaches upon society, so naturally I was very excited when this day comes about.  The idea was to make something that wasn’t particularly offensive but would offend many by nature of it’s existance.

For whatever reason I took a photo of this comic as opposed to scanning it.  This is the first and only time that will happen.  At least I hope.

Changes on the horizon, big ones, as in whole change of format!

Hey guys, it’s been a while.  In fact I have not updated this blog since April.  There were a number of factors leading to this but most of all there was just too much life happening to dedicate time to a blog with a rather small readership (though I highly appreciated the few of you who stopped on by).  But I’m back, with a brand new bag, as it were.

First of all, it’s worth pointing out that I’m watching the word count rise higher and higher to 100 and not even caring, you know why?  CAUSE I’M COMPLETELY CHANGING FORMATS!

That’s right, I’m no longer going to be making posts of a pithy nature.  What I am going to be doing instead, is a web comic.

I’ve actually already been doing this for a little over a month now, there are currently seven of them.  They’re done every Thursday.  And now, they will live here.  I will also be doing some tinkering with the layout of the page to something that fits the style a bit more.  But it’ll be fun!

In the meantime, I shall, over the next week, be posting the backlog of comics before I make updates with the new ones!

Hold on tight, folks!

Easy-Going Life Tip: Find the Good from the Bad

Of all things this tip probably sounds the most like a homework assignment, but believe it or not it’s shockingly easy.

Find something bad/stressful/traumatic that happened in your past and just retrace your steps.  Think first about the paths you took directly as a result of whatever happened; heartbreak, job loss, you name it.  What you’ll find is one decision leads to another leads to another and if you follow this path enough, chances are it will lead to something in your life that you treasure.

Keep this in mind the next time you’re worried or hurt.

Unfocused Words and a Picture

Urban Berries

Sleep deprivation plus annual reviews at work do not a prolific Zack make.  Rather than fall back into the slump of inconsistency that I’m trying to dig myself out of allow me to grace your screens with an image I snapped yesterday at Freeway Park, a little urban retreat for Seattle’s downtown office set.

I had fought purchasing digital camera for the longest time, opting for film or my phone.  After spending $150 on my Canon Powershot, I found out what a difference the ability to be creative at a moments notice can make.

That camera will never leave my side.
